Former Tar Wharf and Fuel Depot, Tipner, Portsmouth
Phase 1- Tamdown Regeneration, Phase 2 and 3 TRC Ltd
Project Details
IDOM Merebrook has supported the delivery of a major land remediation project in Portsmouth. The remediation of the former tar depot and adjoining land in Tipner was completed following one year’s work, with the physical remediation works lasting in the region of 46 weeks. The site is being redeveloped to accommodate residential properties and is part of a wider regeneration project in the area.
During site works IDOMs role entailed monitoring noise, dust and air quality to ensure that remediation works did not adversely impact upon the surrounding area and liaised with both the public and key stakeholders regarding project progress. A series of complimentary site investigations were also undertaken to support and inform the ongoing remedial process, with all information fed back into the project team. In addition, and through working with contractors, clients, regulators and stakeholders, IDOM Merebrook carried out environmental monitoring and obtained the appropriate regulatory approvals, and finally a validation report for the site, so it could progress to the next stage in the development cycle. IDOM Merebrook is currently engaged in further phases of remediation on the wider site.
