Senior Project Manager/ Senior Bid Manager (Salary Negotiable)


We have an excellent opportunity for a Senior Project Manager with Nuclear Experience to lead the delivery of multi-million pound projects, working with an International engineering company (IDOM) expanding into the UK.  IDOM is engaged on a number of prestigious energy and infrastructure projects in the UK and Overseas ranging from Nuclear, renewable energy, power stations, airports, metros, highways and industrial developments.  IDOM is an international Consultancy and Engineering firm with +3,500 employees in more than 20 countries working in 150 countries.

We are looking for a Senior Project Manager with extensive project management experience to join our Nuclear team (Nuclear New Build and Decommissioning) to help deliver multi-million pound engineering projects (under Nuclear Quality System).  You will have Nuclear experience as a Senior Project Manager/Senior Bid Manager delivering multi-disciplinary teams with/for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors in the UK Nuclear industry.  You will be working in an international environment co-ordinating tasks and resources across offices and countries.  Based in our Manchester office reporting to Director level, you will be responsible for the daily activities of these projects working with the Technical Lead and Project Director and being responsible for budget, quality and risk management and contract management of projects. You will be the face of the Company for the commercial and contract responsibilities related to these projects.

• Client facing role
• Management of Multidiscipline and International design teams
• Preparing bids and working closely with Technical Leads and International experts complying with Quality System and Commercial and Legal requirements
• Negotiating bids and contracts with Clients in order to transfer risk with the Technical Lead and Project Director
• Delivering projects and managing daily activities to ensure Client quality expectations and requirements meet quality and budget
• Liaising with internal and external stakeholders and stakeholder management
• Preparing regular progress reports for Clients and Project Director
• Monitoring and controlling the level of progress of the delivering team, identifying deviation and preparing recovering plans
• Monitoring control risks and contract changes
• Preparation of financial forecast and monitoring of current versus forecast budget
• Closure of projects and request Client feedback
• Build the future of the Project Management team and mentor junior staff

Essential Criteria

• Educated to degree level, equivalent qualification or work experience in a relevant area
• Nuclear experience working with Quality System for Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors
• Previous track record managing multi-million pound projects with multidisciplinary capabilities
• Enthusiastic to work in an international environment
• Previous experience of managing regional teams
• Experience of using Primevera V6 and MSProject
• Project Management Certification (Prince 2 Practitioner or similar)
• Professional presentation and self-motivated, with the ability to build rapport with other members of the team and Clients
• Able to work in a team and enthuse and motivate others, achieving results through others without necessarily using line management authority
• Experience of applying project management techniques and successful completion of projects/operational plans
• Available to travel for work, including occasional overnight stays
• Projects will include sensitive/security restricted areas – candidates will be required to confirm that there are no obstacles for obtaining a security check, e.g. DBS
