IDOM is currently recruiting for infrastructure engineers to be based in offices in central Birmingham near to New Street Railway station.

 

Civil Engineering CAD Technician

Required to be based at our office in Colmore Gate, Birmingham reporting to the Design Co-ordinator.

Experience of producing general arrangement and detail drawings for construction of infrastructure projects is required. This should include detailing of; roads, drainage and carparks. The using of 3D CAD and PDS 3D Modelling or similar software would be desirable.. The ability to manage support from Junior Technicians when necessary is required. Knowledge of detailing of structural elements would be an advantage but not essential. Candidates should also be able to liaise with Clients and other Idom offices to produce integrated works packages to programme and within budget. Further training and support towards professional qualifications will be provided.

Graduate Engineer(s)

We are seeking candidates for a Graduate Engineer position to join our Birmingham Office. Having gained or expected to gain a first degree in Civil Engineering or similar structural or Infrastructure based discipline. With an interest in developing design knowledge in the rail and aviation environment, including; stations, permanent way, 3D alignment modelling and drainage design. Some knowledge of CAD design, 3D modelling and drainage design or structures software would be advantageous but not essential.

Idom Merebrook would provide suitable in house and external training to progress towards appropriate professional qualifications and opportunities to work on international projects in the rail or airport environment which may involve travelling to our international offices and working with the local teams.

A flexible approach to working and willingness to support other team projects is essential together with an ability to develop new skills and knowledge of new types of projects – such as railways or airport design.

Desire to continue professional and technical development in the UK as well as internationally is expected.

Design Co-ordinator

Required to be based at our office in Colmore Gate, Birmingham reporting to the Infrastructure Director.

Significant experience is required in the management and co-ordination of infrastructure design works is required. Candidates should be Chartered Engineer level or working towards an appropriate professional qualification with a background in infrastructure design. An ability to; liaise with Clients and supporting Idom office teams, prepare design briefs, design bids and manage the delivery of infrastructure design projects is essential. A willingness and flexibility to travel to other UK and International Offices is required. An ability to mentor junior staff is also desirable.

 

Design Manager(s)

Reporting to the Project Director. Candidates are likely to have 6 to 8 years post graduate experience of managing the design of large infrastructure schemes (this could include highways, rail or airports) – however, any candidates who may not have the number of years’ experience required but can demonstrate the necessary skills may apply and will be considered. Good technical design skills in highways, airports, pavements or rail would be advantageous as this role will involve mentoring and managing the design process and mentor the team as necessary is required. This role will require direct liaison with Key Stakeholders at all levels and an ability to manage project deliverables to programme and within budget.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer(s)

Reporting to the Design Manager. Candidates are likely to have 8 to 10 years post graduate experience of roads and drainage design in either a highways or aviation environment. A knowledge of and ability to design pavements would also be advantageous. General experience of airport design or rail would also be advantageous but not essential. Any candidates who may not have the number of years’ experience required but can demonstrate the necessary skills may apply and will be considered. Candidates will be expected to have an ability to liaise closely with clients and to manage a team of technicians to produce work to high technical standard and to meet Key Stakeholders’ programme.

A flexible approach to working location and willingness to support other team projects is essential together with an ability to develop new skills and knowledge of up to date Codes of Practice and design software.
