IDOM is currently recruiting for infrastructure engineers to be based in offices in central Birmingham near to New Street Railway station.

 

Civil Engineer

Reporting to the Design Manager. Candidates are likely to have 5 years post graduate experience of civil and/or structural engineering to include roads and drainage design in either a highways or aviation environment. Experience in designing alignment, drainage and civil design in roads and highways projects would also be advantageous. General experience of airport design or rail would also be advantageous but not essential. Design software knowledge would be desirable. Any candidates who may not have the number of years’ experience required but can demonstrate the necessary skills may apply and will be considered. Candidates will be expected to have an ability to liaise closely with clients and to manage a team of technicians to produce work to high technical standard and to meet Key Stakeholders’ programme.

A flexible approach to working and willingness to support other team projects is essential together with an ability to develop new skills and knowledge of new types of projects – such as railways or airport design.

Desire to continue professional and technical development in the UK as well as internationally is expected.

Graduate Engineer(s)

We are seeking candidates for a Graduate Engineer position to join our Birmingham Office. Having gained or expected to gain a first degree in Civil Engineering or similar structural or Infrastructure based discipline. With an interest in developing design knowledge in the rail and aviation environment, including; stations, permanent way, 3D alignment modelling and drainage design. Some knowledge of CAD design, 3D modelling and drainage design or structures software would be advantageous but not essential.

Idom Merebrook would provide suitable in house and external training to progress towards appropriate professional qualifications and opportunities to work on international projects in the rail or airport environment which may involve travelling to our international offices and working with the local teams.

Senior Technician

Reporting to the Senior Engineer. Candidates are likely to have several years’ experience of preparing and presenting detailed drawings for infrastructure construction, including roads, drainage and pavements – however, any candidates who may not have the number of years’ experience required but can demonstrate the necessary skills may apply and will be considered.

Applicants should possess a relevant degree in Engineering. An ability to lead and develop CAD technicians is expected. An ability to use 3D based software for design is expected, e.g. PDS, Civils 3D. Experience in design linear infrastructure projects would also be advantageous.

A flexible approach to working and willingness to support other team projects is essential together with an ability to develop new skills and knowledge of new types of projects – such as railways or airport design.

Design Manager(s)

Reporting to the Project Director. Candidates are likely to have 6 to 8 years post graduate experience of managing the design of large infrastructure schemes (this could include highways, rail or airports) – however, any candidates who may not have the number of years’ experience required but can demonstrate the necessary skills may apply and will be considered. Good technical design skills in highways, airports, pavements or rail would be advantageous as this role will involve mentoring and managing the design process and mentor the team as necessary is required. This role will require direct liaison with Key Stakeholders at all levels and an ability to manage project deliverables to programme and within budget.

Senior Infrastructure Engineer(s)

Reporting to the Design Manager. Candidates are likely to have 8 to 10 years post graduate experience of roads and drainage design in either a highways or aviation environment. A knowledge of and ability to design pavements would also be advantageous. General experience of airport design or rail would also be advantageous but not essential. Any candidates who may not have the number of years’ experience required but can demonstrate the necessary skills may apply and will be considered. Candidates will be expected to have an ability to liaise closely with clients and to manage a team of technicians to produce work to high technical standard and to meet Key Stakeholders’ programme.

A flexible approach to working location and willingness to support other team projects is essential together with an ability to develop new skills and knowledge of up to date Codes of Practice and design software.
