Sudbury gasworks
Great to have been involved in this community heritage project with James Boon.
Sudbury Gasworks has now opened doors for business as Derbyshire’s newest wedding and events venue – it’s been an ambitious project, primarily funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund and will breathe new life into this fantastic historic building.
Our team was onsite early in the project, carrying out initial site investigation to ensure the safety and feasibility of the planned renovations for the 1874, Grade II listed, former gasworks site, which, in the 19th century supplied gas from coal for Sudbury Hall and the local village for street lighting.
We were keen to get involved and help support the Sudbury Gasworks Restoration Trust rescue the buildings, their team of volunteers had great vision and dedication and have created a stunning, unique and modern facilities for the whole community to use.
At IDOM Merebrook we are always on the look-out for projects like this, where we can use our skills to help preserve and enhance the heritage and history of our local area.
