We’re proud to have supported the transformation of the Brookmead Academy site in Leicester, a location with a rich and varied history, having evolved from a Victorian landfill to allotments, and now into a fully functioning school.

Merebrook Consulting supported Wates throughout the groundworks and earthworks stages, providing reactive and pragmatic advice to help navigate the complexities of the site. Our team delivered end-to-end environmental consultancy services, ensuring that every stage of the redevelopment was aligned with the project programme.

We carried out contaminated land assessments and coordinated a range of specialist surveys. When unexpected contamination was discovered, we worked closely with the Local Authority to develop a bespoke assessment that reduced waste, minimised the need for imported materials, and ultimately saved our client both time and costs, all while supporting a more sustainable outcome.

The project was handed over safely and successfully, and it’s rewarding to reflect on the positive impact this redevelopment has had on the school and the wider community.
